ABOUT ME

Let me introduce myself.

Portrait and Commercial Photographer

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been seeing stories – in people, in nature, in the buildings and objects around me. As a kid growing up in Nebraska, I was surrounded by the beauty of our bountiful farms, tight-knit villages and hardworking people. The backdrop here is often stunningly harsh: blistering summer days and debilitating blizzards, tornadoes and hailstorms: every moment, a story.

From an early age, I’ve been obsessed with the wonders of nature and the uniqueness of every person. Looking back, it was inevitable that photography would become my life’s work. My career has afforded me opportunities to work with the kinds of people you read about in the newspaper or see on TV, and the most magnificent natural landscapes in the world. While that has provided a certain level of excitement and novelty, my real passion is telling the stories of the people and places I love: one-of-a-kind family and senior portraits, drone photos that show a landscape from a perspective that cannot be seen any other way, commercial shots that sell a product without words.

When you’re looking for a professional photographer, you’ve got many choices – some certainly have flashier marketing or maybe they churn out dozens of senior portraits in a week. That’s not my style and I don’t think it’s the kind of artwork my clients are looking for.

I spend lots of time getting to know the people, places or products I’ll be photographing so I can tell a unique story for each of them. I use interesting settings and subtle editing techniques to ensure that every photo is an unforgettable work of art, whether it’s a portrait of a high school band student, a sweeping Colorado landscape, or delicious-looking food in an advertisement for a restaurant.

My customers say that I am patient, passionate and professional. Sometimes the best shots are right there in front of you, just the way you planned and sometimes you have to wait for the light to soften,  the breeze to stop the blowing hair, or the clouds to cover the sun. And then sometimes you find that the story is actually in the waiting.

Everyone has a story. I’d love to get to know you and help you tell yours.
